Heavy Civil Project Manager

Responsibilities
Lead project safety by adhering to all company requirements and correcting any violations on-site.
- Strategically plan project work and procure materials with a focus on safety
- Develop and mentor project engineers within the division
- Collaborate with estimators to ensure effective bidding and project handover
- Serve as the primary point of contact for subcontractors and vendors
- Prepare, track, and obtain all necessary project documentation, including submittals and material certifications
- Manage project budgets, understand financials, and optimize cash flow
- Prepare and submit all records for project change orders
- Build and maintain positive relationships with subcontractors
- Identify, pursue, and secure fair compensation for changes in project scope
- Actively seek creative solutions to increase project revenue and save costs while maintaining high quality standards
- Maintain accurate project files, drawings, and production records
Qualifications
At least five (5) years of construction experience (preferably road construction).
- Direct experience with road and/or heavy civil construction projects
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Proven experience in project planning, scheduling, and estimating
- The ability to prepare detailed subcontractor scopes of work
- Familiarity with pricing, purchasing, and preparing purchase orders for materials and equipment
- The ability to read and understand technical drawings
- Strong communication skills with all levels of a construction organization, from on-site crews to executives
What will set you apart (Preferred)
- High proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- A four-year degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred
- Familiarity with HCSS products (HeavyJob and HeavyBid) or other construction management software
- Experience with advanced project management tools, such as scheduling software
- Experience in GDOT project management
- A strong ambition to grow with the company and expand leadership skills
