This is a full-time position. The standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday (8a-5p).
***Note: Our client does operate 24 hours a day so periodically there may be some days and hours
outside of the standard schedule above that may be required, including weekends.***
Summary/Objective
The Plant Engineer works with company employees, customers and regulatory agencies to help manage site assets and compliance programs for a chemical manufacturing company.
Essential Functions
- Assist with the management of the company’s management systems in the areas of health, safety, environmental, security and quality.
- Manage the requirements of OSHA PSM by collecting applicable data, performing audits and inspections as well as training employees.
- Assist with the management of the company’s quality management system by creating, training on and auditing procedures to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards.
- Assist with the management of processes and procedures to comply with cGMP requirements.
- Provide input on new product technologies to determine fit in equipment, development of projects, and startup planning. Work very closely with R&D and commercial management to help bring new products forward and meet customer’s timetable for commercialization.
- Provide technical support to help solve problems, resolve bottlenecks, and ensure the products and processes are meeting quality, environmental, efficiency, and safety standards.
- Must be able to recognize safety issues, potential process safety hazards, develop critical process parameters, and never exceed limits.
- This employee must be able to use their technical training and experience to reasonably identify, evaluate and respond to risks and opportunities to the business and assist with mitigating these risks and maximizing opportunities.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities
Work Environment
This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to loud noises, fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals (including high and low pH), flammable materials, high, precarious places and moving mechanical parts.
The employee will be exposed to extreme temperatures within the working environment, including outside weather conditions such as wet and/or humid conditions. Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and fume hoods is required. Certain procedures will require the use enhanced personal protective equipment such as a fit tested, full-face respirator.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk; use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is required to sit, climb, or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must navigate stairs and/or ladders. The employee must lift and/or move up to 55 pounds and lift and/or move greater than 55 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Employee must be willing and able to wear safety equipment such as but not limited to but not limited to: hand, foot, head, hearing, eye protection including, but not limited to ear plugs, and safety glasses/goggles/face shields and possibly Tyvek/Tychem suits. Employee will be required to be fit-tested for full-face respirators.

Travel
Periodic travel to include visits to customers, suppliers and to attend trade shows or off-site training.
Required Education and Experience
- B.S. in Chemical Engineering
- Experience in the chemical process industry as a process engineer
- Ability to work with all functional groups such as R&D, Engineering, Health & Safety, Quality, Environmental, etc.
- Proven leader to utilize all resources to solve problems, commercialize products, improve efficiencies, reduce waste, maximize revenue income, and meet customer expectations.
- Ability to process oral and written information effectively.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
