Position Description
The core handler will process all incoming cores to ensure that the proper type of unit was returned and logged for credit. The core handler will remove critical parts required by the rebuild group and properly store units in a organized fashion for future repair. The core handler will also process inventory returns from the field ensuring product is in proper condition for restock in our parts department.
Major Areas of Responsibility
Major areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
- Safety minded in all work activities; suggest and recommend safety initiatives; commitment to safe work habits, maintaining work are organized aligned with 5S.
- Process incoming and outgoing shipments of core components.
- Ensure accurate counts are recorded and communicated per process
- Stock all returns in proper storage locations.
- Maintain core inventories used by rebuild technicians.
- Maintain an organized, clean and efficient Core area by using and following all 5S procedures.
- Ensure that work instructions are followed precisely.
- Remove key components from cores according to daily schedule.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
This position requires the following essential knowledge, skills, and abilities in order to satisfactorily fulfill the role:
- Ability to organize the work area in a systematic and orderly fashion.
- Competent in a Microsoft Office environment
- Detailed oriented using fine visual skills.
- Well-organized with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability work in a fast-paced environment for an extended period.
- Other duties as assigned to support other group functions
- Ability to use hand tools to perform tasks related to processing of cores
Education and Experience
- 1-2 years of experience in material handling and inventory count.
- 1-2 years of experience in operating a forklift.
- Prior experience with excel spread sheets to track inventory levels.
