Job Description

  • Work safe and follow all safety procedures
  • Wear all PPE that is required in this area
  • Apply skill and knowledge to the safe and efficient operation of the production line
  • Prepare the fiber blend hoppers and the binder.
  • Proper consumption of the raw material in the computer system
  • Set up line control system utilizing setup sheet.  Make start up adjustments as needed
  • Start up operation of carding machine and/or needle loom and ancillary components
  • Make adjustments to the carding machine and/or needle loom while in operation to produce first quality material at peak efficiency, while also ensuring all safety precautions are being used
  • Continuous operation of carding machine and/or needle loom by constantly monitoring and observing the machine, data, output, and lab results
  • Properly record all pertinent data in the computer system and manually in daily logbook
  • Understand and utilize the data from the online measuring system
  • Ensure all master rolls are properly identified and placed in the proper location
  • Assist in the development of new products and improving the quality/process for existing products
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment with proper housekeeping
  • Engaging in all duties as they are assigned in a clean and safe work environment
  • Assist in the training and development of workers on the line
  • Thorough understanding of card operation and how to make necessary adjustments
  • Working knowledge of the foulard/padder foam application system and how to make the necessary adjustments

 

 

 

 

 

SPECIAL SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS:        

  • Positive communication skills
  • Average math (+, -,*,/,%) and reading skills
  • Able to understand and use the metric system.
  • Excellent computer skills including the use of Windows/ Lotus based programs.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, some college preferred
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Safe forklift operating with certification including the carpet pole and clamp attachment
  • Thorough knowledge of making binder and fiber blends
  • Working knowledge of fiber delivery system
  • In depth knowledge of carding process
  • In depth knowledge of needle loom
  • Ability to be on your feet the entire shift
  • Ability to twist, bend and reach repeatedly.
  • Above average hand/eye coordination
